Bill: Intelligence Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberty Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2148

Description[?]:

At present, our laws permit our intelligence services to perform *any* covert actions in other countries. This essentialliy means that there are no legal limits to the activities of our spies. Assassinations of heads of government, fomenting rebellion, all of these things are considered perfectly respectable under our current legal system.

These powers are excessive and will give other countries legitimate grounds to despise and mistrust us.

We propose that we should explicitly limit the actions of our intelligence community to actual intelligence gathering.
