Bill: Government Policy on Nuclear Power
Details
Submitted by[?]: People's Union Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2148
Description[?]:
Currently we have no stance on Nuclear Power plants. I beleive we need to totally outlaw any nuclear power plants from being built on our soil. My reasoning is that nuclear power is highly dangerous. Even if the nuclear reactions are safely contained, there is still the problem of disposing of the nuclear waste that comes from the plants, which if not properly contained could pose a severe threat to our nation's health. |
Proposals
Article 1

Message | As compared to coal or oil burning? Maybe true, but I had assumed that we would be eventually converting to all hydro/electric/wind power in the future, as opposed to the coal or oil-burning plants. These renewable energy sources have little to no effect on the environment and have the added benefit of no nuclear waste. Seeing as we regularly provide large grants to renewable energy projects, and that we are an island nation and therefore surrounded by water, we could potentially become a great leader in renewable energy technology. What do you think? |

Message | Hydroelectric dams flood valleys, pose a danger if the dam breaks and causes mass erosion. Wind power produces so little electricity compared to other alternatives, create a lot of noise, uses large areas of land, rely on the wind and devalue areas around them. Nuclear power produces so little waste it can be easily, and safely, kept in containment. Its effects on the environment are minimal compared to the other alternatives, and if the plants are isolated they pose no threat to Quanzari citizens. |
