Bill: State security Bill (i)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Likaton Fascist Front

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 2148

Description[?]:

Recent events across the border in Lodamun and in Valruzia has prompted calls within the PSS electorates for increased security. Although the situation has not affected Likatonia directly, we would like to maintain the this state of affairs.
PSS proposes the following, ie that we allow our Intelligence agents to undertake covert ops in other countries. This does not mean it will actually happen, however it is important that we have this option available sould the volotaile situation in nearby countries threaten to spread to Likatonia.
PSS stresses this is a measure that will be withdrawn when the current situation is resolved.

MessageWe support this measure, however we believe that the intelligence agency should only carry out destabilising covert operations against states that pose a clear and present danger to Likatonian or international security.

MessageDifficult one to call this... the AAS doesn't feel that it REALLY contravenes our pacifistic stance, and we DO have potentially dangerous neighbours at the moment...

And, it doesn't automatically follow that covert operations WILL be done, just because they can...

But... are we prostituting our pacifist stand, in the name of national security???

Ah, to hell with it. AAS supports.
