Message"We are wary of diverting our defense industry entirely to the private sector. As it stands, any nation may freely invest in any private industry. That being said, we are worried that national defense secrets may flow freely out of the Hegemony and into the hands of potential enemies. The interests of international corporations may not necessarily work in collusion with the interests of the Pontesi people.

Article 2 would make the M.A.R.C. Guard illegal. Without the M.A.R.C. Guard, we would still be under the rule of the vicious Selucian tyrants. We cannot accept the second proposal."

Chairman Benedict Klein, M.A.R.C.

Message"The NLA supports privatization of the defense industry. This will create healthy competition, forcing companies to create more and more effective products, creating a boon for the defense industry and thus aiding the economy and the nation as a whole. However, we would suggest that in addition to all defense industries being privately owned, subsidies should be employed to improve efficiency and maintain loyalty. We hope this will be an acceptable compromise to both the ONCP and the MARC."

"At the moment, we cannot support Article 2. While unregulated paramilitaries can be a menace, the heavy restrictions in place prevents them from operating without considerable oversight. At the same time, as noted by the MARC, the MARC Guard is a powerful paramilitary organization that was essential in the re-establishment of the native government. We believe disbanding the MARC Guard wool be foolhardy, and that folding them into the national armed forces could be detrimental to the driving loyalty of the Guard. If the Guard had been a government-sponsored force, they would have likely been divided between the Selucians and Patriots, preventing their effective use in the war."

MessagePrivate sector involvement and competition is an important part of Pontesi's growth plan. We believe that our burgeoning defence sector ought to be given the right to reach its full job-creation potential.
