Bill: Medicinal use of cannabis

Details

Submitted by[?]: Seosavists Republican party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 2150

Description[?]:

Cannabis shall be legal only with a prescription and bought from a pharmacy or medical doctor licenced to sell cannabis to a patient that requires the drug. We advise doctors to use alternatives if possible. This bill will make it so patients with a record of illegal drug usage cannot by law be given cannabis unless there is no alternative. Punishments for breaking these laws shall be decided by the courts.

MessagePerhaps ... if you tie it's manufacture, testing, regulation and distribution to the pharmaceutical industry working under the Health Act.

I will ponder (if you don't burn first).

MessagePlease outline how the drug will be licensed and prescribed. If heroin can be used in medicine, why not cannabis? But I don't want this to become a loophole for smackheads to feed their filthy addiction!

MessageI don't think any of us would want that loophole. Personally, I am against any drugs that are harmful or addictive.

It cannot be sold over the counter, obviously, but would it be more effective to make it a prescription drug or only available in hospital?

MessageMaybe there could be some sort of pharmacy licence to make sure noone sets up a pharmacy just to illegally sell cannibis and strict punishments for doctors who subscribe it needlessly and laws against possession without a prescribtion.

MessageThat would do the trick. Write it into the bill and you have our support.

Messagewhat do you think of that? I made it so you only need a licence for selling cannabis not for having a pharmacy.

MessageLooks good. A Chemistry degree should suffice to own and run a pharmacy.

MessageHmmm ... not enough for my support at present. Had you changed the Articles to ensure that it was a strictly controlled pharmaceutical, then it may have attracted my vote.

As it is, you seem to agree: but didn't re-word the bill sufficiently well.

Why not let's give this another go ... tho' with DUP support, I think the bill will pass in its present format.
