Details

Submitted by[?]: Red Police Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 3274

Description[?]:

"We are resubmitting this bill into Parliament for discussion and solutions to reach. We are hopeful, that this time around, our fellow Parliamentarians will see that these changes are needed. We cannot have citizens running around with guns, there is no good reason for them to have a gun! We have police dedicated to protect them, and all we do is arm the dangerous and put more weapons into the black market if we allow gun ownership. We must kill it, before it kills us."

-- Minister of Internal Affairs, Lisa Baldwin

WHEREAS:

- Current laws allow individuals to own deadly weapons for no reason

- Current laws create problems that lead to an increase of citizen death, and police injuries

MessageMr. Speaker,

We share the RPP's concerns about gun proliferation, but maintain there are individuals in certain occupations who have a reasonable justification to own a gun. For example, farmers protecting their livestock from wolves and foxes.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We believe that this argument has come up before, and will reitirate our points. There is no need for guns any more, our society has progressed so that farmers have useful tools such as fences and walls to keep unwanted animals out. There are billions of TPDs flowing into the Ministry of Agriculture, surely they could subsidize fences and such for this cause.

There is no reason for any Telamonese citizen to own this deadly and lethal weapon in today's day and age. We are simply fueling black market gun trading, arms races against our police force and dangerous escalation of domestic disputes into gun fighting.

MessageA few decades ago, the Cult of Shuzzag Khan violently seized power and murdered the royal family of Telamon, a small force was able to totally dominate Telamon by controlling the National Police, citizens were executed based on religion with no ability to resist, do not romanticize society as it is today, we have not outgrown such capacity for destruction of our own kin.

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections.
