Message | Mr. Speaker, We disagree on the outlines of this bill. Despite certain sects and religions being more appalling then the other, we do not think we should intervene in the personal life's of people and what they should and should not believe. We believe in a strict seperation of church and state, if any laws are violated by said religion or cult, leaders and/or followers will be persecuted for such. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, This is a strict seperation of church and state. The new law clearly states that we will not have any state religion, but that we will recognize some religions as harmless, and give a clear okay for our citizens to practise that religion without worry of "persecution" if we suddenly decide laws are violated by the religion. Basically, we're not saying you can practise this religion and not the other. We're simply saying, this religion is clearly harmless and positive, and it either supports Telamon or has no political stanse. But if a religion comes around that attempts, solely attempts, to harm Telamon or its citizens, then we can say "Hey, you probably shouldn't practise that religion, because there is a chance that it will break some laws." It is our duty to this great nation and every law-abiding citizen within it to make sure they are safe, whether from dangerous people or dangerous religions. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, It is difficult to square the assertion that no one will be told what religion is is and is not alright to practice with the policy's clear statement that all non-recognized religions will be persecuted. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, If the DAP actually read the bill, it clearly states that "cults" will be prosecuted. Additionally, as Minister of Internal Affairs put it in the bill, "This bill will identify all religions that are peaceful and positive in nature, and will help them exist and prosper in our society, while unrecognized religions or dangerous cults will flounder without the benefits of being labelled a "recognized religion." ". Not every unrecognized religion is a cult, and only dangerous cults will be rightly prosecuted. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The placing of the word cults in quotes seems to indicate that the term is not strictly accurate, and that any unrecognized religion will be regarded as a cult. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We absolutely share the concern about harmful religious movements and the damage they can cause in people's lives. However, we are not convinced that punitive legislation like this is the right response. By all means, investigate and prosecute religious groups that break the law or are suspected of breaking the law...but outright bans are not the way forward. If anything, these groups could become more dangerous if they go underground. The right response is to increase public education. The Catholic Church and other organisations have a role to play in this process. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We would like to give a reaction to the RPP's answers to our questions. We dont 'decide' whether laws are broken by religion A or B. They either break laws or they dont, and if they do the individuals breaking the law will be prosecuted. If there would be a dangerous religion breaking laws or professing the breaking of laws (both of which acts are illegal) they can be prosecuted for this. But not as a religion, that is a law that could lead to some great abuse and problems. |
