MessageMr. Speaker,

Is there a reason for this change to income taxes?

MessageMr. Speaker,

This is a regressive income tax proposal. If we changed to this, the poor would pay more and the rich would pay less.

MessageThe poor pay no taxes at all. Why should the cut off by 4,000 pounds? 1,000 pounds is still letting a lot of people get off without paying any income taxes, and would grow our economy by lessening the tax burden on other people. It is an overall tax cut on middle and high class incomes, but a large portion of our tax base, 0-4000 pound earners, aren't being taxed at all. Why should middle and high income earners fund the entirety of the government?

The Telamon pound is one of the most valued currencies in the world, along with the Rutanian ruta and the Lodamun dollar. One pound in Telamon is worth 42.5 Kirlawan dinars, 44.65 Dolgavas dalderis and 36.6 Davosti. With one of the de facto currencies of the world, why should the 1000-4000 tax bracket pay no taxes at all?

I would even classify the citizens in this bracket as middle class. We should lessen the tax burden on the rest of our citizens by taxing these free loaders.

MessageRegarding the CPU's comment, this is not a regressive income tax proposal. It is still a progressive tax proposal, even though it changes the amount of taxation and the tax brackets.

MessageMr. Speaker,

This is a very regressive tax proposal. The highest rate of income tax is being cut from 50% to 35%, meaning the rich pay less. Similarly, the tax threshold is being reduced from 4000TPD to 1000TPD, meaning the poorest pay more. Contrary to what the House of Stafford are claiming, *nobody* will "get off without paying any income tax" under this proposal. 1000TPD is too low a threshold. For example, in Ferene, the poorest person earns 2889 (see http://classic.particracy.net/viewregion.php?regionid=87 ).

MessageA regressive tax proposal is a tax system that taxes the rich less than it taxes the poor. This is not a regressive tax proposal. Also, your number for "poorest person" is actually the AVERAGE income of the lowest tax bracket. That means that from everyone who earns 0 to 4,000 pounds, the average income is 2,889. It is not the least amount someone earns in Ferene.
