MessageDr. Anthony Benjamin, CR.
"Mr. Speaker, earlier this month the Magrave made a statement saying that good Government is about more than models and structures, focusing on principle. Today we have seen him put forward proposals to the House that would change the titles of some of our institutions without alterations to their powers. Does he still believe in good government?"

MessageLord Torvellian
"Mr. Speaker, I thank my right honourable friend for his question. This Government continues to believe in strong, stable governance and that is what we are providing. By working in a polypartisan cabinet coalition, by debating the most important issues in the House, by taking a lead on transparency by hosting these question times, we are the Party of good governance and on the issue of the proposals I shall say this to him; a Unionist-led administration is an administration for all Solentians and we believe that the proposals we have put forward to the House reflect the delicate political balance of this country and the political atomosphere of a polypartisan nation."

Message"Lord Torvellian,

Amidst all the larger conversations on governmental structure, there has been a fair amount of give and take on healthcare. What is the current government's opinion as to the future structure, if any, of the Kingdom's public health services."

Message"Mr. Speaker,
I thank the honourable member for his question. Healthcare is an issue that the Government reviews periodically according to patient need, wealth distribution and demand. At this point, it is the official position of the Government that Healthcare ought to have a strong element of competition in order to reduce the burden on the taxpayer. There are discussions ongoing about whether the national element should in the form of a state service or in subsidy but the priority for us is on those principles of guarenteeing provision for low-income families and putting basic free market principles at the heart of a compassionate Solentian health system."

Message"Lord Torvellian,
Recently, the question of the removal of monarchy in our nation has come up in the Senate. While discussing this, your party declared that with all the reform movements, now is not the time to restructure our government, we completely agree.

Our question bounces off of a recent 2406 Party statement describing the Solentian situation as such, 'The Crowns are the only true monarchists in Solentia. The Unionists work in government with the monarchists but they are not monarchists at heart; they are pragmatists, working for the betterment of Solentia under whatever system proves popular at the time'.

How accurate is the 2406 Party's statement? Should a peaceful time in Solentia come when the chance to restructure our government is ripe, would the Unionists prefer to restructure our government to a less monarchic form?"

Message"Mr. Speaker,
This debate has taken up much valuable time in our legislature over recent years and I have to say that I am surprised. There are much bigger issues to be discussing and debating than the structure of our Government. The Unionist position on this is a matter for Unionist Party statements. These questions for the head of government in that capacity. In that capacity, I tell the honourable gentleman that the priorities of this Government are on economic growth, provision for low income families, development of our urban areas, creating a sustainable low-carbon economy and democratic enrichment."

Message"The Unionists, Mr. Speaker, are a party of strong legislative substance that stretches well beyond matters of simple government structure and bureaucracy. This Government is one of robust policy and innovative governance. We have focused our efforts on moving the national debate from "reform" to "perform" and that is something that we shall continue to do. Our platform has been layed out time and time again; there shall be no end to the structure of the Head of State until there is strong public support for it and it dominates the public agenda. Until then; we govern."
