Message"Mr. Margrave,

This proposal is inflammatory and revisionist. The "regency" of the traitor Jack Swindon was a farcical charade declared illegal in one of the most thorough and transparent investigations in Solentian history. At the time of the dual governance crisis, the proper government of Solentia met in Halion; it continued day to day operations and the regency left nothing but a blotch upon the Federal Republic's history.

I needn't remind the members of this body that Swindon fled, defeated, and led a caustic, violent, genocidal regime in Istaliana. The offense that this memorial would perpetrate unto our southern neighbors in itself would be enough reason not to fund such rubbish; Swindon's legacy as a traitor to the Federal Republic and a coward are merely the icing on the cake.

I urge my colleagues to vote 'nay' on this heinous proposal, and yield the floor."

MessageThe findings of the farce of a court have been overturned and the memories of those impuned have been exhonerated. May the so called Supreme Court justices to commited their acts of evil burn in hellfire, forever. Lord Swindon died an exile from his own land, subject to forces beyond his control, never able to see the future he worked hard to achieve finally become reality, here today.

Let us not dwell on the insanity of the Quanzari government of those later years, but of the memory of the noble ideals of the Regency.

Lord Greyhall.

Message"Mr. Margrave,

What 'noble ideals' did Swindon embody, Mr. Greyhall? The ideal of the overthrow of centuries of tradition and stable democratic institutions? The ideal of civil war, disunity, and insurrection?

In your mind, Mr. Greyhall, the traitor is the hero. Your mind is obviously deranged.

I yield the floor."

MessageFacts are that the Republican counterregime threatned to remove longstanding familial titles, as well as illegally crushing the partisan militias. The Swindon Regency had no choice but to continue to protect the citizens. Without that check and balance in a time of great danger, the consequences could have been terrible. The Republic threatened to fall under the tyranny of the FIP and its cronies. Naturally any they felt to be in the way of this leftist revolution would be treated the most harshly. We are realistic that there will be more than one view to history, and naturally persons are free to state their opinions about the past.

None of this has anything to do with the Hessexian Restoration and its horrors, so really there is no point dragging that up. We wish to have a series of monuments and museums in Calydon so that it will be one of the greatest cities in Terra. This is just one of many monuments we hope to see eventually build, here.

And who could argue with great works for such a splendid capital?

Lord Greyhall.
