Description[?]:
We feel that it is time to end conscription. We believe that the Peoples Republic would be best served by an all volunteer and professional force, rather than going through the turmoil of routine call ups, and spending vast sums of money on the annual training of raw recruits, money that would be much better spent on training regular soldiers, sailors and airmen. Although we recognise the benefits, politically and socially, or having a citizen conscript armed forces, does that provide us with the best military? An all professional volunteer force would have higher morale, be better trained, and have more effectiveness and experience. Therefore we hope the other parties will join us in praising the value of conscription, but recognise that it is also no longer a necessary part of securing our Republic. However we would concede that in the event of an all out more, the government may deem it necessary to reintroduce conscription. But we are unlikely to be involved in an all out war. |

Message | We'd also point out to the fincance minister that although most of the savings from ending conscription would desirably be put back into training and equipment purchases, we would propose that small savings could be made from the overall defence budget. |
