MessageMr. Speaker,

It is essential that advertisers follow the community's ethical codes. Do we want businesses going around telling lies? Do we want to throw good taste entirely out of the window?

MessageMr. Speaker,

The community's ethical codes can go hang: if people don't like certain advertising, they can vote with their money and refuse to buy the products. We won't stand for anyone in government to have the power to, say, prohibit an ad because it depicts a woman not 'in the kitchen where she belongs' and that offends a community's 'ethical standards.' Current policy can do no good, only ill.

MessageMr. Speaker,

There have to be some ethical guidelines surrounding advertising...or would the DAP allow Coca Cola to advertise that their product is healthy for our teeth, or BP to advertise that using petrol is good for air quality?
