Bill: One Person, One Vote Amendment
Details
Submitted by[?]: United Vorona Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 3293
Description[?]:
A bill designed to open discussion on the subject of the current seat allocation between Vorona's two regions, specifically: 1): Vojnový Pokrik having twice the population of Barovia and having the same representation in the national parliament. United Vorona proposes a new allocation system that is more representative of the populations of the two territories. To address a point that is sure to come up, should this system have been in place at the last elections, both the SLP and United Vorona would have done marginally better and the GDV would have done substantially worse. We would prefer this not be about politics, however. United Vorona wishes to open a dialogue about the worthiness of a system that allows a citizen living in Barovia to have twice the representation that a citizen from Vojnový Pokrik has. The floor is open for debate. |

Message | The GDV is naturally concerned about this bill - most of our support comes from Barovia and by reducing the number of seats in that state it is naturally going to decrease our number of seats. However our party has the word "Democrat" in its name and proposed system does make sense. It is unfair to the people of Vojnový Pokrik to have in some sense less representation than their counterparts in Barovia. Losing seats in the short term is no big deal, we can always gain them back over time. Both the SLP and UVP have lost quite a number of seats in previous elections, but have always came back strong |
Date | 17:39:35, April 23, 2012 CET | From | Social Liberal Party of Vorona (SLP) | To | Debating the One Person, One Vote Amendment |
Message | The SLP have been thinking of this proposal for a long time, but did not have enough votes to secure the passage of a bill with this proposal. The SLP supports this bill, as it strongly believes in the notion that bigger states should have more say, proportionate to their population. |

Message | United Vorona is pleased to see consensus on this amendment and will move it to a vote. (OOC: We agree too much. Someone should propose a bill giving safe haven to international terrorist cells or something). |

Message | OOC: Why don't I propose a restoration of Vorona's monarchy? Haha just kidding |
