| Message | Against. Wages rising will result in more people being paid the minimum wage. It is highly doubtful that one worker will be leading a family larger than four under a minimum wage job in Aloria. It is also highly likely that if the person in question is married, the spouse also works, meaning that supporting a family in Aloria is already supported sufficiently (also, they would probably paid well over the minimum wage). If all wages were close to being equal, which they would be if the minimum wage was very high: 1) Prices would rise. 2) More jobs would be minimum wage, meaning that a toilet cleaner with no education could be paid the same as someone with a college degree, which would be unfair. 3) Businesses would have to pay considerably more per worker and thus have to lay off workers, leading to a higher unemployment rate and thus a worse poverty problem. 4) The economy would suffer. |
