Bill: Raising Currency Value

Details

Submitted by[?]: Beluz Democratic Karavist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 3304

Description[?]:

We support the implementation of a salary cap to reverse inflation. Imagine what the value of our currency would be when 60000 BEL in our country is equal to over 200000 units of another nation's currency.

It would take smaller amounts of our currency to buy things that it would have taken larger amounts to do so before. The less money available, and the more it can do, is the more the currency will be valued.

We do not really support the "removal" of the minimum wage, but the truth is that abolishing it will reverse inflation and increase the value of our currency, since our currency would have more buying/selling power in smaller amounts than it would have before.

Also, it allows some persons to be free of income taxes if they work multiple low-salary jobs. The lowest tax bracket is 2500 BEL. Anyone earning below 2500 BEL would be exempt from income tax. There would be a de facto minimum taxable wage, but not a de jure "minimum wage" as exists now. We hope to raise this from 2500 to 5000 BEL, and later on, even 10000 BEL if we can, so persons earning below 10000 BEL wouldn't pay income tax, because of their low salary.

There is already a minimum income law; there is a difference between minimum wage and minimum income. The minimum income law states that "All adults not supported by another person shall be guaranteed a very basic subsistence income by the government. However, the provision of this is not to exceed a certian period of time," which allows persons, who aren't earning above a certain level, or getting financial support from someone else, can still get government money to survive. Who benefits mostly from this? University students. We give them money to allow them to survive and be mostly comfortable while doing their studies.

Minimum wage laws refer to how much a person is paid from 1 job. Minimum income refers to how much a person is paid overall to sustain their life. No-one will suffer from these new laws, except unemployed persons in other countries after Beluzians take all their jobs.
