Message | Had the marriage act passed through debate we would have explained that we do not wish to persecute people who choose such a lifestyle but at the same time the government needs to have a pragmatic approach to marriage. For this reason we would have voted for 1) The government does not recognise polygamous relationships.or 2) There is no explicit government policy on polygamy. We worry about the consequences and exploitation of people if polygamous marriage should be accorded equal recognition. |
