Bill: Marriage Equality Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: The Liber Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 3322
Description[?]:
In recognition of the fact that all of our citizens are equal but different and must be treated as such by our legal system. We support the establishment of an opt-out clause for religious organisations who do not wish to allow same-sex marriage in any of their institutions. This will be decided at a local level by religious organisations themselves. We do believe that civil marriage, as distinct and independent from religious marriage, is a necessity for same-sex couples in alleviating some of the problems caused by our current position, particularly regarding tax-laws, adoptive rights and the protection of the modern family. The government must not endorse and promote discrimination at a legal level. |
