Bill: The Recognition of Prostitution

Details

Submitted by[?]: House of Astredies

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3323

Description[?]:

In today's society our governmen does nott consider prostitution an actual occupation but still allows it to be legal. It is my belief that this demonizes the prostitute, who is engaging in a valid business transaction. The government has no right to control our bodies or regulate our morals. A profession is described as anything done in return for goods or wage and prostitution meets this standard.

MessageThis means we would have to tax prostitutes.
We do not want prostitution to be a taxable job, which is why we choose not to recognise it.
It doesn't mean it's illegal. Prostitutes can declare themselves as not having a fixed job, and therefore being exempt from taxes.

Fictional cartography isn't a recognised profession, but it's not illegal; we don't stop persons from doing it.
The thing is: if we choose to recognise it under government employment regulation policies, we would have to tax them, and that is not only ridiculous and unfair - it is hard. Are you going to go to every fictional cartographer to ask them how much money they make so you know how much to tax them? They shouldn't be taxed, and neither should prostitues.

MessageIf someone makes an income from a service they provide then they should be taxed and they should report their annual finances. If you exempt some professions from taxation then you must exempt them all.

MessageNo.

Prostitution is not a normal job; it cannot be so easily regulated, and it cannot guarantee steady income.

Not every service is the same. Blank reactionary laws barely make sense; there may be many exceptions to assumptions made by elitists like yourself.

You're going to tax every service? If a friend asks me to do a drawing or design for him, and he decides to pay me, that should be taxed? There should be government books for everything? That is overwhelming bureaucracy.

If this bill is passed, and anyone ever sees a dead prostitue with a red substance around her neck, I will ensure you are charged for murder. There is no need to choke prostitutes with red tape.

This will discourage small or part-time jobs and services. There are normal actual professions which are more regularized - the wages are more consistent; this is not the case for prostitues and many artists.

A prostitute can have another job, like being a masseuse, bartender, or showgirl. Such jobs are different.

MessageIf a prostitute wants to be a part of another profession than that is perfectly fine. If they want to have two jobs than that is also fine. But prostitution is in fact a profession just as artist is in fact a profession so we should treat it as one. I will admit wages can be inconsistent but that is the nature of that profession. We tax waiters whose salary varies from year to year why not tax prostitution. I would also like to point out that in your original bill discrediting prostitution you stated that it was too degrading to be considered a proffession. Are you rescinding that statement?

MessageI never said it was too degrading to be a profession; I said the job is already degrading, so it shouldn't be taxed.

About your point on waiters... They're given a set salary, but their set salary isn't their only source of income. They are tipped in addition to their salary. There is a consistent minimum income which would be their salary without tips. We tax the salary, not the tips.
