Message"This bill is diametrically opposed to the Tukarese Democratic Union's long-standing policy of devolving responsibilities to local governments"

MessageAlthough that policy can largely be applied to most issues, and rightfully so, the environment is a far more expansive issue and as such the GLPoT believes this issue needs to be dealt with on a centralised basis without double standards between localities. Given the symbiotic nature of ecosystems and the environment as a whole the unsustainable exploitation of natural resources and habitat in one locality could lead to drastic consequences for the country as a whole. The current inconsistency of environmental laws between states only encourages this and also leads to numerous impracticalities.

MessageFor example per say state A has no regulations regarding tree replantation after logging whilst state B does. This results in: 1) the increased logging of woodland in state A as a result of enterprises not being obligated to replace trees. This in turn leads to 2) deforestation on an unsustainable level in state A due to the increased logging. This unsustainability is both detrimental to the environment and local economies as 3) there is less employment/business in state B due to enterprises relocating to state A and 4) it results in an eventual crisis in State A once all forest has been logged. Similarly disparities between states regarding the ownership of wild animals leads to the current issue of an illegal animal trade between localities where it is either legal/illegal which is both immoral, bad for the environment and bad for the economy.

MessageWhilst 'the Tukarese Democratic Union's long-standing policy of devolving responsibilities to local governments' has been successful with regards to other policies, the environment can no longer be dealt with on an isolated case by case basis and the persistence of this approach, whilst admirable in some aspects, is ultimately disadvantageous to the environment and the economy.

Random fact: In cases where players introduce RP laws to a nation and then leave, Moderation reserves the discretion to declare the RP laws void if they appear to have fallen into disuse. In particular, please bear in mind that a player who is inexperienced with Particracy role-play and has joined a nation as the only party there should not generally be expected to abide by RP laws implemented by previous players who have been and left.
