Bill: Anarch Anakrousite Shatter Reform Bill - Convocation (ii)
Details
Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2151
Description[?]:
Since the poor showing last time this measure was introduced, the AAS is bringing it back before the Senate... hopefully for slightly more enthusiasm, one way or another: The Anarch Anakrousite Shatter wishes to suggest (again) changing the name of the Senate, to something more 'unique' on the world stage. Suggestion: The Anarch Anakrousite Shatter suggests "Convocation". Convocation: a group of people formally assembled for a special purpose Above all, the AAS would like to see Likatonia as UNIQUE and special. |

Message | OOC: It's not clear why some people SO oppose changing the name of the Senate... it SEEMS like there is no REAL interest in keeping the name "Senate"... more... a conservative refusal to change something that isn't 'broken'... In the interest of greater RP 'texture'... if someone has no specific objection to changing the name to Convocation... why not support it? |

Message | Sigh... this motion looks set to fail again, with STILL more than a third of all votes uncast... :( Response to the People's Party: Is there a specific objection to 'Convocation'? To that name? To the principle of changing the Senate name, at all? |

Message | The AAS extends thanks to the RLP, PSS, Representative Party, and RWLP. Of course, since they also supported last time... this COULD still pass if the PCP gets the chance to vote... |

Message | Aaah, that's a shame.... shot down twice... both due to so many parties not getting to vote on the issue... It's a shame you can't set votes to remain open until voting is FINISHED, in cases like this. |

Random fact: Any RP law granting extraordinary "emergency powers" or dictator-like powers to a government must be passed by at least a 2/3rds majority, but (like all RP laws) may always be overturned by a simple majority vote of the legislature. |
