Bill: Nuclear Power Policy 3331
Details
Submitted by[?]: Williams Family
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 3332
Description[?]:
Nuclear power is by far the cleanest (pollution-wise) method of electricity generation capable of supporting demand using current available technologies. Other alternatives like wind and solar power are cleaner but also suffer the disadvantage of being less reliable. The Williams Family wants to see most of Beluzia's power generated using nuclear plants as quickly as possible to cut down on pollution from other methods like coal burning. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Government policy on nuclear power.
Old value:: The decision is left up to local governments.
Current: The government requires most energy to be generated by nuclear power.
Proposed: The government requires most energy to be generated by nuclear power.

Message | The Takanashi Clan vote FOR this bill. While nuclear power, especially not regulated or supervised by the authority, can be hazardous to both the environment and the people, it is far cleaner than the use of fossil fuel in power generation. Before development of renewable energy such as solar power and geothermal power become mature, we believe the adoption of nuclear power is good for the environment and the health of the people. |

Message | [OOC: Oh, right. Thank you for that.] And is it not more profitable to sell coal beyond the border, instead of spending them on the internal market? |

Message | Yes, but what about steel production? We need coal to produce the steel that we also export. |

Message | Unless we are mistaken, this bill only affects the source of energy production of Beluzia. As such, we believe it should not affect our steel production industry, for coals can still be used for it, as well as other usages that do not contribute to primary energy production. |

Message | I believe that local governments can make an informed decision about the effects of nuclear power. |

Message | The purpose of coal in steel production is using an energy source readily available in mining areas close to where iron is being axtracted from at the same time. It would be better if local governments decided energy production methods. For Parlos Decina, it should be coal. For Iker Ado, Negunia, and Iliathar, it should be mainly nuclear. For Bailon, it should be wind. |
Date | 07:21:03, July 10, 2012 CET | From | Takanashi Clan | To | Debating the Nuclear Power Policy 3331 |
Message | In that case, then we are afraid that the steel production industry should use nuclear power as much as possible through the electric grid. While it will certainly increase the price of such production, we believe that, in the future, the advantage of reduced pollution by this bill will outweigh the disadvantages of increased cost. After all, is damaging the environment and the health of our people really a price worthy of paying in the name of "cost optimisation"? |
Date | 14:00:53, July 10, 2012 CET | From | Beluz Democratic Karavist Party | To | Debating the Nuclear Power Policy 3331 |
Message | Nuclear power is actually a cheaper energy source, but using nuclear power for steel; is that possible? |
Date | 16:40:36, July 10, 2012 CET | From | Takanashi Clan | To | Debating the Nuclear Power Policy 3331 |
Message | If the power required for steel production is merely electricity, it should be of no concern given that the nature of electricity will not be affected by the energy source. However, there might be a chance where said steel production plants are not connected to the electric grid, of which investments will have to be made in order to connect it. |
