Bill: Call for early elections so we can finally fix the flag, November 3336

Details

Submitted by[?]: Left Libertarian Alliance of Cats

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill requests an early election. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline. Elections will be held immediately if the bill passes.

Voting deadline: July 3337

Description[?]:

Whereas the nation's flag is currently not working
Whereas this makes our nation look bad to the international community
Whereas the Eredian Party has vetoed votes to fix our flag during multiple attempts over the past 7 years,

Therefore, we motion for early elections in November 3336 (after the current bills up for vote have been passed or failed) in an attempt to secure a 2/3rds majority in favor of fixing Barmenia's flag.

MessagePerhaps the feline alliance should propose a new flag rather than attempting to pass the same one over and over again. The Barmenian people want other options.

MessageOOC: You don't have to do this! The troll controls less than 1/3 of the legislature.

MessageOOC: 33.66 is less than 1/3 of 100. I know that it's confusing, since 100 can't really be parted in three by humanity's mathematical system.

67x3=201. 68x3=204.

33.66% x 3 = 100.98%.

Basically, he has veto power by a one seat margin.

MessageOOC: Sorry, I was confused. Don't trust me when it comes to math. I wouldn't call a new election yet, at least wait until the bills on the floor have been processed.

MessageOOC: Calling me a troll is an absurd and trite insult. My in-game character is simply that of a historically traditionalist party that seeks to restore Barmenia to a culture rooted decades ago.

And you have to admit! I'm a fun political enemy that adds a degree of interest to the game. It'd be boring if there was no clashing or conflict. Please feel free to engage in ideological attacks on me while in character, but I'd appreciate a friendly relationship between all of us when OOC.

MessageOOC: No, it's not fun. New players ought to respect what others have created. But you aren't even a new player, I almost forgot. You once took over Gaduridos and changed it's name to "Eredian". What a brilliant piece of roleplay! How wonderfully non-trollish of you!

Aha, that's news really. You have never stared this before, you have no party description, your party name doesn't make any sense, and your policies aren't especially "traditionalist" I must say. I feel that you just came up with this idea. And what exactly was the RP-justification for changing the national animal to "grizzly bear"?

You are not exactly improving the OOC-atmosphere here by refusing our country a flag because of some technicality. There are plenty of generic republics you can go to if you want to play in one. I would suggest Deltaria. You don't exactly have to destroy the cultural identity of our country to gain that freedom. I think you try to do that because you enjoy annoying people. Don't worry, I know the feeling and I have done it myself in the past, when I was around 11-14 years old. But that behavior, doing something with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response, is the very definition of trolling.

MessageOOC: That's a fascinating, albeit asinine, perspective. Did the original feline fanatics "respect what others [had] created" when they altered the very fabric of the nation and ignored centuries of cultural precedent? No, they took advantage of a lull in activity from other parties and changed nearly every aspect of the nation overnight.

I apologize for not having the free time to painstakingly create and consistently update a party description or explain my operations. Having a full time job truly takes away from this valuable opportunity to inform you of every aspect of my decision making process. And side note, I oppose your concept for a country flag because I disagree with using it; that's how the democratic process works. Different people hold different viewpoints.

I'm attempting to have a civil and friendly environment as we play an online simulation game. It's painfully embarrassing to watch you squirm and whine over this issue, especially after labeling someone an "11-14" year old.

MessageOOC:

I've never noticed a Felinist party who was unwilling to utilize Barmenia/Barmenistan's rich history as part of the story being told.

All that's being asked for is that you follow the same rules that the rest of us are bound by. Its hard not to think that you are trying to troll other players when you do things like trying to rename the country (in a way that is a violation of the Cultural Protocol rules), unilaterally try to change the culture over night (in violation of the Cultural Protocol rules), block administrative fixes of the flag, and that whole Grizzly Bear stunt (which went against the spirit, if not the letter, of the Cultural Protocol rules).

You are enjoyable to play with when you play by the rules.

MessageOOC: Sorry, I won't buy that. There is no reason you would have named your party in the way you have done, nor came this way, if you didn't want to annoy us. You are trolling, sir. You'll get a friendly environment once you've earned it.

MessageYou are absolutely right! There is no other reason. It couldn't have possibly been a brief experiment on the inner workings of the game. Nor could my arrival in Barmenia have been prompted by taking a three month break fromthe game and then hoping for a new challenge in a different country. My sole goal was to seek you out and annoy everyone as my entire life revolves around harassing online people I have never met. (snark)

Contrary to your inane ramblings, my motivations for participating in this simulation don't involve you and your delusions of importance. I am trying to fill my political and policy sweet tooth by participating in this simulation. Frankly, if you think anyone who disagrees with you is "annoying" you are going to carry out a lonely and unproductive life. Good luck.

MessageOOC: Doubt if there is any point arguing with you. You have clearly proven with what you've written here, with your behavior, that you are only here to cause trouble. Yeah, if you try to destroy what people have put a lot of work into, people ain't going to like you.

I doubt your knowledge of of the outside world, but out of ethics, I'll try to educate you on one matter: Religion and culture are, though they are connected to each other, two different things. When Sweden was christianized, our culture was hardly destroyed. It gained new influences, sure, but it wasn't destroyed. We still dance around the maypole and sing about the little frogs. What you yanks did to the native americans was the destruction of a culture. The complete upheaval of a society and a creation of another in it's place, with no connection to the previous ones norms, values and traditions.

If anyone has cared for the oriental-ish history of Barmenia, it's me. However what you, troll, is attempting here, RP-wise, is the destruction of a culture. Like I said previously, go to a generic republic if you want that, there are plenty of them.

MessageThank you for the generous history lesson and for once again missing the point. You and I have a difference of opinions and therefore clash on certain issues. The ignorance of labeling someone a troll and troublemaker for merely disagreeing with your philosophy is unfortunate and disappointing. Not to mention an affront to the democratic process. My 68 seats were entrusted to me by the Barmenian people and we have every right to vote against legislation we disagree with.

Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too.
