Currently, capital crimes are punishable by death under the law of Zardugal. However, the legislature has yet to define these crimes.

TREASON:
* High treason - 25 years to life, or death
- Providing assitance to an enemy at war with Zardugal
- Levying war aginst Zardugal

* Espionage - 20 years to life, or death
- Supplying of information to foreign nations that may compromise the safety and security of Zardugal without legal authority.

TERRORISM:
* Hostage taking - 20 years to life, or death
- Seizure of a person against their will, with the threat of death or serious bodily harm

* Aggravated hostage taking - 25 years to life, or death
- Hostage taking causing death or serious bodily harm

* Piracy or aircraft hijacking - 15 years to life, or death
- Seizure a naval vessel or aircraft

* Aggravated piracy or aircraft hijacking - 25 years to life, or death
- Picracy or aircraft hijacking occaisioning death or serious bodily harm

* Aggravated arson - 20 years to life, or death
- Use of fire or explosives with the intent to cause death or serious bodily harm

MURDER:
* Aggravated murder - 25 years to life, or death
- Murder committed in an especially cruel way
- Murder committed with premeditation
- Murder of a state official in the course of the discharge of their duties
- Murder of a minor
- Murder of a kidnapped person
- Murder by a convicted felon
- Murder in the course of committing a felony
- Murder in the course of attempting to escape prosecution or custody
- Murder constituting a hate crime
- Murder involving the discharge of a firearm

RAPE:
* Aggravated rape - 20 years to life, or death
- Rape occasioning death or severe bodily harm
- Rape of a minor
- Rape by a gang
- Rape involving the discharge of a firearm

Notes:
1) Criminals charged with crimes occaisioning death will also be separately charged with murder.
2) Criminals sentenced to death will have an automatic appeal to a higher court.
3) Criminals sentenced to death will be executed within 60 days of the failure of their final appeal.
4) Criminals sentenced to death will not be compelled to work in prison.
5) Executions will be announced to the public but will not be held in public.
6) Executions will be performed by either hanging or lethal injection, depending on the choice of the condemned.
