Bill: Repeal of Astredies Religious Reform Policy

Details

Submitted by[?]: Beluz Democratic Karavist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 3344

Description[?]:

We propose a repeal of the Astredies' "Religious Reform" policy.
Foreign nations need to have approval before setting up embassies, and large religious institutions are the same; they promote a culture worthy of display, but such displays are due to security concerns.

As grounds for our repeal, we would like a review of arguments made on these bills:

http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=352491

We also find it hypocritical of the Stantons to have voted in favour of the "Religious Reform" policy, though being opposed by the Stantons in the past; what has changed?

This proposal, in repealing the new policy, only asks for missionaries to be registered. There is no acceptance/rejection process.

MessageWhile I cannot speak for the Stanton's I believe it is reasonable to conclude that they may have had a problem with the other proposal in the same bill. As for security concerns, the missionaries are treated exactly the same as regular tourists.

MessageBut they are not regular tourists.
They seek attention and create crowds that cause traffic jams.

In such crowds there exists both supportive and opposing persons.
Protecting someone from the crowd isn't treating them like "regular tourists"
Treating a missionary like a regular tourist would be arresting him as soon as he creates a commotion, and believe me, he would complain about that and my soldiers would accidentally shoot him out of being annoyed.

MessageIf you feel that a missionary is causing a disturbance or endangering the public then by all means arrest him. However when I participated in missionwork we operated mostly inside one central building, normally a local church, and we would assist in some charitable projects, such as painting, so we would witness by both word and deed.

MessageNo, we don't want them to be considered trouble-makers.
The point of getting them registered is making it easier for them to travel with protection, and without the fear of being mobbed. We simply want to protect them by preventing disasters, rather than ending up having to fix a disaster they cause by an unplanned gathering.

When things are planned, it is easier to control situations and limit access to those who have a genuine interest in being present to an address or appearance by a popular missionary.
We'll know when to have more police in the streets, and when to redirect traffic to prevent chaos.

MessageThe Takanashi Clan will vote in favour of this repeal. One of our most important concerns about foreign missionaries is that they are, as stated by our honourable colleagues for the Karav Dynasty, no merely regular tourists, but men and women of religious service, with the intention of spreading their faith within Beluzia. Even though some of the missionaries are not full-time ones, and receive no salary for their service, we believe their mission in Beluzia is still career in nature, and thus it is only reasonable to treat them as such, requiring documentation for the ease of track.

MessageAnd not only ease of track, I should add.
The missionaries will attract attention, and want security as a result.

If thye're registered, we can make arrangements to keep them secure, and prevent street mobs.
If they're not registered, they'd draw attention to themselves, and some of it will be unwanted. We wouldn't be able to do anything about it until after one of the attention whores gets murdered.

Ehem. I meant to say "missionaries" instead of "attention whores" but I forgot the difference between them.
