Message | How many years must someone work before they can enjoy their lives? this is nearly 50 yrs from graduation to retirement. We are in favor of 60. Plenty of time to make their contribution to society but time left to enjoy. |
Date | 22:01:27, May 08, 2005 CET | From | Free Reform Coalition (FRP) | To | Debating the Retirement Age |
Message | Considering this is a welfare state and they're probably not making money and they're getting social security and what-not. We see little reason not to support this. |
Date | 23:40:15, May 08, 2005 CET | From | Radical Centrists | To | Debating the Retirement Age |
Message | ooc: i proposed this a while back, but held off because of concerns expressed over the nature of the nation's economics. In other words, we don't know if we have a pension crisis. If - and that's a big if - we are a typical 'western' nation, then in all likelihood, we DO have the problem, in which case RC will support this bill. |
Date | 13:39:54, May 09, 2005 CET | From | LibCom Party | To | Debating the Retirement Age |
Message | ooc: we could actually figure out our age distribution, if someone can be bothered keeping track of the population figures for a while. |
Date | 16:09:46, May 09, 2005 CET | From | Protectorate Party | To | Debating the Retirement Age |
Message | OOC: I prefer to wait until we have an economy but if we assume a pension issue. I will tentively support until/unless the facts show otherwise. |
Date | 17:04:50, May 09, 2005 CET | From | Labour Party | To | Debating the Retirement Age |
Message | OOC: I'd prefer to wait as well. But if I'm forced to vote, and .... IC:...without strong economic reasons to do so, I can see no reason why people should be forced to work longer than they are currently compelled to do so. What is the reason for this bill? Is it to ensure the working classes are compelled to work for as long as the owners of capital can exploitthem, or is there another reason? Let people enjoy thweir retirement and collect there pension at 62. The use of the words "able to work longer" almost seem to imply that we want people to work until they drop. |

Message | We've got a few more years in that one, send them to the Wal Mart Mines. The SRP and USP should be ashamed of their votes on this bill, though there is still time to rectify their grevious error. |

Message | I am amazed that so called socialist parties are not even hiding their willingness to exploit the working class and would have people work until they drop. |
