Bill: Bill NLA-47 Censorship Liberalization Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progressive Democratic Alliance
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: February 2152
Description[?]:
The New Liberal Alliance stands firmly against censorship and as thus will allow hard-core pornography to be legal. If we think about it, how can we enforce such laws if it is part of an individual's sex and private life? Many will still find ways to broadcast such material over the airwaves and I am sure that if we liberalize such content only certain channels will have it at designated periods... as the saying goes: "whatever floats your boat". |

Message | Hard-core and violent sexually explicit content is degrading to women and promotes skewed views of sex (for example, most hard-core and violent sexual content shows the woman as a tool to be exploited for a man's pleasure). |

Message | Please vote for my bill instead that will permit all sexually explicit material to be shown on television except for hard-core and violent content of that nature. Another thing, why would you want to allow violent sexual content? |

Message | Violent: maybe not but I can give leeway to hard-core. After all, it's not like you or any other party can control the lives of our citizens. We shouldn't interfere with the private lives of citizens unless they harm others and this is one case. If some people want a channel to watch this kind of material than let them, if you don't like the channel, don't watch it. It's really quite simple. |

Message | Well, you don't want violent sexually explicit content, and yet your bill will allow it. |

Message | What the hell, I'll vote for it now. But I will later attempt to ban violent and hard-core content of this nature from television. |

Message | Restrictions on children watching graphic sexual material is actually a separate topic. There is another law regarding whether children should be prevented from watching televised explicit material. |
