Message | Mr. Speaker, It is my sad duty to announce that our glorious emperor, His Most Excellent and Imperial Majesty William V, by the Grace of God the Emperor of Luthori, Alduria, Beiteynu, Yishelem, Namviet, and Talmorschland, and of his other Realms and Territories King, died at four o'clock this morning at the Palace of Oalapiva, Oalapo, at the age of 170. The cause of death was old age. His Majesty was a wise, perspicacious and steady ruler, who guided the barque of state with an ease and grace that few could have managed in his place. Although the state did not always follow his leadership - most notably during the dreadful and hated Commonwealth - I found his guidance, in my weekly meetings with his as Seal-Bearer, his statesmanship, his diplomacy and his graciousness an inspiration and a wonder, as so many of us did. Mr. Speaker, I will not delay the house too long with a eulogy more proper to His Majesty's funeral, which I am informed by the Palace, will take place in a month's time. It is my duty to announce the succession of our new Emperor, is Most Excellent and Imperial Majesty Philip III, by the Grace of God the Emperor of Luthori, Alduria, Namviet, and Talmorschland, King of Beiteynu, Grand Duke of Orange and Yishelem, and of his other Realms and Territories King, Defender of the Faith, who succeeded his father upon his father's death this morning. I must also formally ask the Diet to pass a vote affirming this succession, as custom dictates. I should also like, Mr. Speaker, to add a motion to the bill, expressing this house's great esteem for our late, lamented emperor. The Emperor is dead, long live the Emperor! I yield the floor. -His Highness the Grand Duke of Tinako, Henry Scrope Imperial Seal-Bearer |
