Also there's no option just to fund the privately run universities which I would accept (so long as it was free at least for the poor). |

There are also international campuses connected to some of them (one in South Africa and one in South East Asia). Connected to the fact that a large number of Australian graduates seem to head overseas. Many fine examples of state run universities where the degrees are recognised internationally. |
