MessageYes, that is understandable, however immigrants are already required to take a test to gain nationality, which currently automatically confers citizenship as the current standing is to let all nationals have citizenship. My understanding of this proposal was that in order for anyone to gain citizenship, whether born here or immigrant, they must take a test. It seems there has been a slight misunderstanding regarding that.
Regarding the (im)practicality of Article 3, if some citizens are carrying an ID card and some aren't, that creates problems, particularly with law enforcement, so it has to be (in the opinion of the Lib Dems) all or none.
