Bill: Legalization of Private Schools
Details
Submitted by[?]: Maroon Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 2050
Description[?]:
Private schools should be allowed to provide a degree of competition to government schools and allow various educational innovations to be tested. Not only will this mean that kids with special needs, special talents, or are willing to invest more in their education, will have their needs met and be allowed to develop their talents better, but it would also prevent stagnation within the educational system as the dominant public school system will be able to learn from the successes and failures of the private schools and adapt them. There is no inherent reason that the government or the private sector is better than the other, which is why both should exist in order to provide people with choices and alternatives. |

Message | Not necessarily; as a previous argument mentioned; if rich people do send their children to private school, that means that the poor children will recieve a greater share of public school funds, does it not? Moreover, sometimes private schools are also better suited to providing things like special needs and special talents education, due to having less regulations and bureaucracy than public school. There are also charity private schools operating, or ones that give substantial financial aid. Sometimes, these things allow poor chilrden to attend these schools, and thus develop their own talents and skills. If someone chooses to go to a private school, he is still paying taxes to the public school system. Therefore, allowing people to go to private schools harms no one--and helps potentially everyone. The financially apt, by spending money on private schools, would lose some of their own money (for the sake of educating children), and allow the lower classes to recieve a better, more well-funded education. |

Message | Right now, the rich can already do things like hire private tutors, buy educational materials, etc., that give their children a supplemental education beyond what the public schools give. If they send their children to private school instead of buying a supplementary education, not only will they spend more money, but the poor will get a better education, thus actually reducing the gap. |

Message | This is nonsense! We will build public schools to a higher standard of excellence so all can acheive in life! |

Message | Having private schools would help our public schools improve. Public schools could observe the implementation of new educational devices in private schools to see whether they would work or not. Public schools would also have more money to use on their students. |
