Message | You fail to mention that the father of this child owned an illegal gun collection during the gun ban, and that this child had access to guns long before the ban. People will do what they want, when you make it illegal they only hide it. |

Message | Well, the gun was obviously obtained illegally and used illegally. A high school student does not legally have access to such a weapon, so either he obtained it illegally himself or he had borrowed it (again, illegally) from a friend or relative. Also, our strict license conditions would not allow a disturbed person like the one in your story to obtain a gun, as those in our country who apply for a gun must be checked thoroughly and declared sane. Also, people convicted of any violent crime are barred from owning a gun. Even if guns were banned, it would be possible for people who really wanted a gun to obtain one illegally. Remember: the people who go about getting a gun under our strict license conditions are the people who can responsibly own a gun. The dangerous people who want guns are the ones who will obtain them illegally in order to bypass our regulations. And why are you blaming me? I only thought that guns should be allowed for civilians under very strict conditions. I would NEVER support legalisation of gun ownership if the regulations were inadequate. I will vote against any bill to deregulate gun ownership, but I feel that it is not entirely fair to ban guns entirely. |
