Bill: Innocence Act of 3386
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progressive Federalists of Vorona
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 3390
Description[?]:
To avoid Vorona's becoming an international Pariah, the PFV proposes to restrict the use of land mines by its military to anti-vehicle only (Note Article 1 in the Proposals). This is in an effort to comply with international standards prohibiting the deployment of anti-personnel mines and booby-traps that may harm civilians long after a conflict has ended. Important examples include Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Vietnam, and many other countries in which civilians are frequently killed by decades-old UXO (unexploded ordnance). |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The government's policy towards the use of land mines by the army.
Old value:: The Government leaves this to the army to decide upon.
Current: The use of land mines is allowed.
Proposed: The use of land mines is allowed but restricted.

Message | Naturally, the Army is going deploy whatever mine it feels will best do the job, generally without civilian considerations. METT-TC (which includes civilian considerations), must be enforced by the government. |

Message | *My point being that the Army gladly uses METT-T and excludes the C (civilian considerations) whenever beneficial. |

Message | I support freedom, but with limitations. And this is one of the most important limitations a country should have. The government controls the army, it's not like a company. I'm in favor of this proposal. And indeed, like the Progressive Federalists say, the army is there to protect our people, so that's another reason to vote in favor of this proposal. Just to ban dangerous weapons which could be risky for our own people. |
