Description[?]:

In accordance with the rules laid out by Moderation, the culture of the realms and territories which currently compose the Sacred Feline Empire of Barmenia, in game, shall be defined by the following:

~Culture~
Barmenian culture is centered around the cat and the faith in the Cult of the Sacred Feline. The Barmenian people hold cats to be sacred and divine in origin and nature. Multiple religions exist in Barmenia, however, all of them found that they needed to integrate Felinism into themselves in order to be accepted by the Barmenian people. (For example, Hosian Felinism, Quenzario-Felinism, etc.)

This text, written by the original creator of the Feline Homeland of Barmenia (here: http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Feline_Homeland_of_Barmenia), shall now be considered canon:

“Barmenia is a nation of pristine lakes, stunning mountains and picturesque villages nestled in cosy grassy valleys. Situated on the continent of Majatra, it is bordered by the Verranderlijke Ocean to the west, Beitenyu to the north-west, Pontesi to the north-east, the Majatran Sea to the east, and Vanuku to the south.

An extensive coastline makes fishing the largest industry, with tourism running a close second. Barmenia's famous golden beaches have been zealously protected from over-development, making them amongst Terra's most precious beauty spots. The country's spectacular natural environment is a Mecca for mountaineers, hikers and nature lovers, not to mention enthusiasts of every variety of mountain and water activity, from canoeing to paragliding.

Barmenians pride themselves on farming, which is big business here. Most agricultural land is owned by large democratic worker collectives which give a stake to every employee and use efficient natural methods to provide our citizens and their beloved cats with a huge variety of the freshest and choiciest produce all year round. Second to the cat, the honey bee is the animal most associated with Barmenia. A beehive in the backyard and a bee-keeping club meeting in the village pub are everyday sights in a land which makes oodles of the thickest-flowing gorgeously sweet oozing honey available anywhere in Terra. The national drink is mead, a luscious wine made with honey which is adored by locals and constitutes one of Barmenia's most successful exports.

Barmenians love authentic handicrafts, homemade clothes and homemade food, shunning the mass manufactured products which have swamped other nations and wiped out once valued skills. We like to have an idea of who made the things we own and how they were made, prizing individuality and disdaining bland uniformity. Craftsmen, tailors, painters, musicians and other creative types swarm to Barmenia from all over Terra just to be in amongst the atmosphere and culture here. One of our greatest passions is oral storytelling, where village groups meet up within a friendly atmosphere in pubs, living rooms and public spaces to regale each other with tales, each speaker trying to be more entertaining than the previous one. Skill in this art is greatly esteemed, and many who began as storytellers have found themselves - often almost unwittingly! - propelled up the ranks of local or even national politics.”

The traditional language of old Barmenistan was Brmék, a dialect/variant of Jelbék. It's use is allowed, and its official status shall be considered in the future. Barmenian culture has a largely IRL Eastern Mediterranean character.

The island of Kathuristan is often in the state of a rouge province of the Empire, being largely Quenzario-Felinist as opposed to the rest of the realm. Apart from housing many Selucians, Barmenia has a continous minority of Ehudi Beiteynuese, and tiny minorities of Davostani refugees from the War of Debt Collection, as well as a tiny minority of Duntrekkers and many other minorities who arrived here ages ago.

MessageOOC: I realise we are a small cult, but could we add another small category for "Other Small Felinist Sects?"

* Great work on this, Crimson Crusade!

* I am sure we can include the Cult of the Embreon when we do the next revision of this.

* I do want to also reiterate though that I'm not a fan of Jelbek or Jelbek derivative languages.

* Long live the Sacred Feline Empire!

MessageOOC (CotE): Absolutely! In the meantime, you could consider your sect as listed among the "non-orthodox" felinists.
:)

OOC (IaoC): Thanks! Well, neither am I, and since I know there is disagreement among the players on the question, I just stated that Jelbek could be voluntarily used until the question is solved.

Indeed: Long live the Empire! :)

MessageOOC: Incidentally, when I have enough free time I will begin replacing my less high profile cabinet nominees with ones with more Mediterranean style names so as to be more in accordance with these rules.

MessageOOC: Minor gripes: 90% felinism will boringly restrict what non-felinist parties can do (ie me). Also felinism would make more sense in a nation which strongly identified with religion by culture rather than faith, and be more interesting as a roleplaying exercise if it was dominated by a small % 'pure' believers but mainly followed by those keeping their old religious traditions. Finally the Duntrekkans are Ameliorate Hosians, im assuming thats included in the Hosian figures but would be better broken down.

Main reason I'm voting against it is the lack of ebionites. No 2 cultural genocide.

MessageOOC:
* Considering that the last cultural protocol (and virtually all RPs for the past two years) had Felinism at ~100%, 90% is already a pretty big compromise for us to make, particularly since not much RP has occurred to explain where that 10% would have come from.

* I am not familiar with the Ebionites, but they could fit into the Christian/Hosian Felinists percentage, perhaps? Are they a branch of Christianity?

MessageOOC: this is hardly the first non cat party in two years. the idea of nonbelievers isn't new. In any case I didn't say it was unrealistic, I said it was boring. What's the point of having a mad religion if not to oppress the masses? You're missing a trick here. Similarly opposition movements need disenfranchised groups to appeal to. if you dont have that in my experience people tend to just make them up, usually with stupid consequences.

The basic premise of the ebionites is they have the traditions of early Christians but, where the rest of Christianity has evolved over time, the ebionites have carried theres on with strict adherence. They could fit into felinism but at the same time if they started adapting their beliefs they wouldn't really be much point to them.
