Message | Mr. Speaker, The ILA is supportive towards most of these articles. However we have serious issues with Articles 2 and 6. Collective bargaining, even without a union, is very dangerous. We view this as anti-business. This also could lead to further organized labor which the ILA is strongly against. Article 6 proposes government interference with the healthcare industry. the ILA fought for decades to see healthcare privatized and put into the hands of the people. It is the ILA's main position that government should never be used as a solution to problems. The ILA finds that government is often a problem and thus we feel it must be reduced at every possible opportunity. With that said, the ILA will support this bill in an effort to promote unity in the Diet. We will not however, support any further effort to support organized labor and will be very skeptical to further government regulations of the economy. I Yield. Arthur Price Imperial-Seal Bearer, His Grace the Duke of Utagia. |

Message | His Grace the Duke of Utagia, I understand that belief that government regulation in the economy is a problem, we are dedicated to the free market, but we believe that the Imperial Department of Health and Social Services should have a say in food regulation and the industry. We must look out for the common Luthori worker who works in the factory, admittedly we cannot entrust employers to do so all the time. I think we can agree there. As for collective bargaining, we believe that the Luthori trade unions have a right to meet with their employers and work out a contract between them. It is beneficial to both. I yield. James Vipond, Secretary of State for the Colonies and representative to the Imperial Diet. |
