Bill: Defense Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: Jakanian Democratic Socialist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: November 2154

Description[?]:

The private defense industries can currently sell weapons to anyone, even Terrorists!
Thats why we need to make government owned defense industries that will make sure that that sale will never happen...
Also all sales will be done on a case by case basis and all that junk...

MessageRestricting those sales, just like with handguns, would only push them underground and black market transactions are that much harder to track. While the NLP understands the perceived risks with the current policy, we feel that the proposed measures would do little to prevent terrorists or other "harmful fringe groups" from buying up arms. The best way to guarantee peace is to adopt a non-intervention policy and promote free trade, so that economic interdependence will discourage other powers from engaging in war.

OOC: Let the record show that the DSF willingly comments on this legislation, but refuses to respond to my comments on the minimum wage elimination and museum privatization proposals.
