For the purposes of this bill forestry is defined as "the science or skill of growing and maintaining trees in a forest in order to obtain wood." This bill will give control of all forestry to private companies. All companies will have to plant as least as many trees as are felled each year in order to encourage sustainability. Comapanies may not work in areas desginated as national parks and will be limited to areas designated by the relevant local authorities. |

Message | We disagree that the private sector should be given complete control of forests and felling within the Republic, however a public agency which can oversee the system from a national perspective running alongside private companies would seem an acceptable compromise. |
