Bill: Military deregulation Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Aurora Libertatis

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes the withdrawal from a treaty. It will require half of the legislature to vote in favor[?]. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: June 3427

Description[?]:

The Society for Liberation is convinced that the Realm of Pontesi would be best served by a decentralized, powerful and independent warrior chaste. Here, idealistic good citizens should work together with private entrepreneurs and the government to defend their ground. We shall seek to bring paramilitaries back, but make them heavily regulated.

We need to hand over the military to private corporations. The advantages are obvious. Apart from creating obvious freedom of choice for the representatives of the people, an inefficient and corrupt board can be fired. Not so with a bunch of generals and admirals inside a government-run enterprize.

As a consequence of this, we shall seek to bring paramilitaries back. There is no logic in outlawing these when all good citizens can own a weapon. The government has a responsibility to intervene when fascists like the M.A.R.C. threaten the human rights of certain groups, but belign paramilitaries should be allowed to exist.

As a consequence of military deregulation, we also demand Pontesi's withdrawal from the International Monarchist League (IML) that has never done any good to anyone, that is a force against liberty and justice over all of Terra and which prevents us from achieving true independence.

MessageWe see this treaty as a threat to our national security.

1.) We believe that our membership in IML doesn't directly effect our military readiness and strength. As such we do not considered the matter to be related or warrant any consideration. IML membership is a Foreign Affairs matter.

2.) We believe the deployment of land mines is necessary as a deterrent against future Selucian invasion. Especially given continue aggression it had shown against us.

3.) As we seek to maintain a professional, highly skilled, and newly equipped military force, we firmly believe that this military should be moderate size to limit the budget. The rest of the population should act as reserve, but given adequate training for wartime scenario. As such, we also see no reason to privatize national defence which is a matter of the government.

4.) We have no position on the matter of Paramilitary and shall leave it to the discretion of the Defence Ministry.

5.) We believe that the export of arm should be closely monitored, to protect ourself from selling this weapons to terrorist.

Message1. To answer this, may we remind you of your own behaviour inside the IML. According to our reports, you have asked the IML to punish the Imperial Commonwealth of Narikaton and Darnussia because of their ratification of the Committee for the Liberation of the Peoples of Pontesi. This sort of behaviour, which the IML treaty legitimises in it's first sentence, is an infringement on sovereignty and might force the young men and women of Pontesi to die for some distant foreign tyrant we have absolutely no reason to get involved with in the future.

2. We see your point as moot. Selucia has shown that it wants nothing but friendly cooperation to solve the issues inside Pontesium, and even if an invasion (most likely to come from "brmek" queranzariah extremist if any), we believe that the government should have enough trust for a free and independent warrior chaste to have freedom of choice on the matter.

3. We are surprised to hear such socialist rhetoric coming from you, that "the government always does it best". Luckily, our variant of socialism doesn't prevent us from seeing the obvious advantages in a balance between public, private and civil/non-profit effectuations. The military is an obvious case of were corporatisation means potentation, private entrepreneurs in the military sector would compete to give the tax-payers the best service for the lowest cost (this logic also works inside publicly funded health care and schooling systems). Never more would our nation be haunted by inefficient officers who live at the taxpayers expense. Socialist market economy at it's finest.

4. Well and good.

5. Since our defence industries are private, there is no reason to worry about this. This could bring a vast number of jobs to Pontesi, from nations were weapon exports are closely monitored.
