Message | The SSP would prefer that private gun ownership were banned outright. However, we would also be willing to allow firearms when they are either "professionally required" or subject to "strict license conditions". We believe in the conept of a social contract - it should not the right or obligation of any citizen to defend their life or property: that is what our law enforcement agencies are responsible for. When we increase the availability of private firearms, the more likely it is that guns will fall into the hands of criminal elements. While we would prefer Solentia moved away from a "gun-owning culture" entirely, we are willing to support its continued legality, so long as the whole process is highly regulated. |

Message | we definitely support either the last or second last options..... and until our police force no longer carries lethal weapons i will support "Adult individuals may not own firearms unless professionally required." but if you are willing to incorporate reforms to both police firearms and individual firearm ownership.. then i will support the abolition of both |

Message | We would indeed be willing. How about an additional article, so that: "Police officers may only carry non-lethal weapons apart from specially trained firearms units"? |

Message | We would support "Adult individuals may own guns under strict license conditions." We do believe that there are occasions when a civilian should be allowed to own a firearm, such as small shop owners in areas of high crime rates. It could serve as both protection and at least a minor deterent against criminals who manage to obtain weapons illegally. |

Message | Okay - as this concerns the wider issue of police-civilian relations (which may prove a much more divisive topic), and the SSP really does believe our current "hands-off" approach to gun regulations are potentially very dangerous, we have decided to compromise and propose that: "Adult individuals may own guns under strict license conditions." We may resurrect this issue after the elections, however, as it is highly interesting. |

Message | Hmm, it appears we may have got the timing wrong, and that this vote may not finish before the advent of the poll - if it doesn't, then the SSP shall resubmit it following the 2156 elections. |

Message | We support this bill. This is because we believe that if a person owns a gn, he should be subject to a license. The government should know who owns a lethal weapon in this country! |
