Bill: Renewable Energy Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Socialist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 3442

Description[?]:

We urgently need to focus more resources on the development of renewable energy sources. Non-renewable sources are running out, and we will be creating a crisis for ourselves if we do not being working on the development of alternatives now. It is also desirable to develop energy sources with lower carbon emissions which do not contribute as much to global warming.

MessageMr Speaker,

the market has always found ways to improve the supply of energy when demand was rising. We do not deem it necessary to let the government intervene in favor of a specific branch of energy generation, especially when we take into account that climate change still lacks an ultimate proof.

MessageMr. Speaker, I agree with the Honourable Member Eleanor Stirling that markets are usually good at reacting to shortages, but I disagree that markets are necessarily very good at planning for shortages that are likely to take place decades ahead! What we really need is long-term planning, to make sure Dranland is prepared for the day when traditional sources of energy like gas run out.

MessageMr Speaker,

the Hon. Member Mikkelsen raises a good point, but we should keep in mind that as supply gradually decreases and prices rise alike, the markets will indeed initiate a successive transformation away from traditional sources of energy. Therefore, it might not be urgently required to intervene right away.

Mrs Stirling climate change conspiracies non-sense and baseless, but even if we pass its help to reduce carbon emissions, renewable energy will decrease the energy prices because other than setting the generator you do nothing unlike fossil fuel. This specific branch of energy is the future, we should prepare for the future not stuck in the past.Fossil fuel generation is expensive and inefficient but politicians deny this fact for decades
