Bill: Cabinet Proposal of June 2155

Details

Submitted by[?]: Commonwealth Workers Army

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2156

Description[?]:

Proposing a Cabinet:

The AAS proposes, once again, to take only the seat which we feel the Likatonian people have voted for us, the First Advocacy.

We specifically wish to see Progressive Social Strength continue in the Defense office, and the Progressive Party continuing in the Foreign Office.

We also specifically wish to see the Radical Libertarians try their hands in the Finance office... we expect great things.

Other than that - the AAS wishes there to be a fairly even division of 'power', such that each party (of the 6 most active) has been suggested for two offices, only... and the AAS has opted to recommend only one for themselves.

For the most part, these will be continuations of the previous Cabinet arrangement - although, of course, those seats previously held by the Representative Party have become vacant... so a little reshuffling has been considered.

MessageThe AAS is pushing this directly to vote, to establish an interim (perhaps, permanent) Cabinet.

If all are willing, we shall vote this Cabinet into office. If there are any concerns, problems, or wishes for further engineering of offices... the AAS will gladly call an 'emergency session' bill, to change the Cabinet, later in the term.

MessageRLP endorses this in total. We also note the wise decision to have the wise choice to continue to have the Ministries of Defense and Internal Affairs chaired by different parties, While I know that none of our current leadership would consider any illegal takeover attempts, should a less principled party arise in the future, this tradition will make the possibility of a coup d'etat much less likely, by dividing the powers.

MessageThis is also the reasoning behind the (attempted) continuation of separation of Justice and Defence departments... and the same reason why the AAS continues to oppose attempts to form 'hybrid' arrangements of police and military.

It isn't that we don't trust our current compatriots. On the contrary, despite many political differences, the current assembly of Likatonian political representatives seems to have been attempting to cause only the best results for Likatonia... even though opinions have sometimes differed about what a 'best result' might be.

One only has to look at how the Senate has rallied around issues like taxation, or the recent Lodamese crisis, for illustration.
