MessageOOC: I'm honestly undecided on this one. On the surface, it seems like something that the AF would support. On the other hand, it sounds like the current method of mayoral elections is like a parliamentary system in miniature. Since the AF isn't pushing for a directly elected head of government, it would seem inconsistent for them to push for directly elected mayors.

I'd need more information in order to make a decision. (Are municipal councils popularly elected, for a start?)

MessageOOC: I've assumed that the Councils operate under the same principle as English local elections http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_local_elections,_2012 and that Mayoral elections operate under the same principle as English Mayoral elections http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salford_mayoral_election,_2012#2012.

MessageOOC: I've decided that the AF caucus is divided. I'm randomly determined that 71 AFers support this measure, including party leader Ayu Takai, Critic for Environment and Tourism Martin Wechsler (who served as a mayor), and a majority of the frontbench. However, 78 AFers, led by Finance Critic Philipp Weissmuller, Foreign Affairs Critic Jana Schmitz, Health and Social Services Critic Rikae Suzuki, Food and Agriculture Critic Steffan Pfaff, and Trade and Industry Critic Ralf Zimmer, defiantly oppose the legislation. Since the bill will pass anyway, and a majority of the party leadership supports it, I vote yes, but "officially" its 71 AF votes for, 78 AF votes against.

MessageOOC: This might also mean that some of the AF frontbench might not still be there next term...

Random fact: When your party holds the foreign affairs department, you can create new treaties. However, before writing anything new, it is a good idea to search for existing treaties which already accomplish what you desire.

Random quote: "He that would make his own liberty secure, must guard even his enemy from opposition; for if he violates this duty he establishes a precedent that will reach himself." - Thomas Paine
