Message | Mr Speaker, the exportation of arms is better supervised on a case-by-case basis than in vague, general terms. It is totally inappropriate for weapons of war to be freely sent around the world, even if it is only to allies. These are dangerous goods which may be used for dangerous purposes, and closer supervision of the exportation of arms is necessary for the safety of Hulstria and Gao-Soto. I therefore commend this legislation. Sofie Kemper MR (DZP) |

Message | Mr. Speaker, the difference is that arms sales will be regulated on a case-by-case basis. We cannot, unfortunately, make the assumption that all sale of arms, even to close allies, are benign. Sofie Kemper MR (DZP) |

Message | "Mr. Speaker, this bill only creates more government bureaucracy by forcing all prospective arms exports to be subject to government review. The exportation of arms is, in the AF's view, already highly restrictive, and we will not abide by these further restrictions on trade." -Seiji Uemura, Minister of Trade and Industry |

Message | Mr. Speaker, the Hon. Member shows the damage that ideology can do to national interests. Bureaucracy may at times be irritating, but the blanket refusal of certain parties to support any bureaucracy, however helpful it may be, is unconstructive. Yes, arms exportation is already restrictied, but the dangers of the arms trade demand even tighted restrictions. The arms trade is not just any old trade, it is a trade with brings with it huge risks and dangers to international peace, and to Hulstria and Gao-Soto. Sofie Kemper MR (DZP) |

Message | "And what of the dangers to domestic industry, Mr. Speaker? Domestic arms manufacturers are already losing potential profits with the trade restrictions currently in place. These further restrictions will only further cut into the industry's profit margins, which will result in an increase in prices and quite possibly a loss of jobs." -Seiji Uemura, Minister of Trade and Industry |

Message | Mr. Speaker, what I find unacceptable, almost offensive, is that the Rt. Hon. Minister is suggest that profit somehow over-rides the security and safety of our country and our citizens. We have nothing against people turning a profit through their business ventures, but when they do so through selling weapons of death and desctruction, the government has a responsibility to impose all necessary regulation. If that means that they may not be making as much profit as they otherwise would be, so be it. It would be unfortunate that jobs are lost, but simply, our security is our paramount consideration here. Sofie Kemper MR (DZP) |

Message | "Mr. Speaker, as we currently only sell arms to our close allies, I am quite confident that exported Hulstrian arms will not be used against us. Does the gentlelady from Budenlar so distrust our allies that she implies that the sale of weapons to them constitutes a risk to our national security? Our security is top notch- even as the scourge of terrorism infects Dranland like a plague, and civil war wracks Keymon, the Crownlands remain a shining beacon of peace and prosperity. No, Mr. Speaker, this legislation will only serve to harm our trade, and it will be the workers in our munitions factories who suffer the consequences." -Seiji Uemura, Minister of Trade and Industry |
