Message | Mr. Speaker, by the time a student is sixteen, they are well-equipped for life. They are mentally mature, as scientists have demonstrated. They have received an education satisfactory in both quality and length. They are ready to go out into the world. Therefore, if a student no longer desires to go to school a the age of sixteen, it is neither necessary nor desireable for the government to coerce them to go to school. I therefore ask for the support of my fellow Hon. members. Paul Hiebsch MR (DZP) |

Message | "As current legislation defines adulthood as starting at age 16, the AF will support this legislation. While we certainly encourage people to complete their education, we reject the idea that the state should compel adults to further their education if they have no wish to do so." -Klaus Horiuchi |

Message | If that is the HDV's reasoning, maybe students should stay in school for their entire lives. Students are sufficiently prepared to leave school at sixteen - although we certainly encourage them to stay on for a little longer - and there is no need to keep them in school for any longer.
