Bill: Discussion Record - Maddog and the Beluz Union, 3448-3452

Details

Submitted by[?]: Beluz Democratic Karavist Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 3452

Description[?]:

The Beluz Union has never rejected the idea of foreign states joining, or the idea of foreign royals competing for our throne. The Beluz Union, itself, is just a commonwealth of states that have used the same currency since the Majatanians met Western settlers and Narikaton islanders.

Keymon is a small island near the Likaton island of Meria. Just like any county in Beluzia, it has its own monarch, military, laws, etc.

The Karavs have shown interest in inviting Keymon to join the Beluz Union. They would be given up to 20 votes in the electoral college for the High Count, with the right to nominate their own candidates as well. This already applies for all members of the Beluz Union, so it should be able to apply for Keymon. The distribution, of their electoral votes, is up to them, whether:

- The monarch holds all 20 electoral votes (the way it used to be done in Beluzia)
- The largest party holds its seat percentage of the 20 votes; all other parties are ignored. That means if the largest party has 50% of the seats, they get only get to use 50% of the votes (the way it is done in Beluzia now)
- The legislature decides who Keymon is voting for, but the number of votes depends on the percentage of the legislatures that support the bill (if all of them support the bill, all 20 votes can be used, but if only 60% support the bill, only 60% of the votes can be used)

MessageDoes anyone have a problem with Keymon being a member of the union?
An expansion of the union isn't something bad.

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation.
