Bill: Budget proposal of April 3450

Details

Submitted by[?]: De venstregrønne

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 3450

Description[?]:

Our budget proposal will eliminate the deficit with cuts in some areas. We also however propose a slight increase in health spending and education as well as that money available to invest in agriculture and industry in order to protect jobs. We also feel that the environment budget should see a modest increase.

MessageOf course, we shall explain our reasoning.

We completely support the efforts to boost jobs, however what we must consider is the impact the cuts will have on those sectors. The cuts in Defence and Internal Affairs means that there is a high chance of job losses in our armed forces and police. Not only this, it will mean a loss of jobs for civil servants within the Internal Affairs Ministry and factory workers who make our weapons. We are looking at fairly substantial cuts here, and it would be very unlikely that the government departments could sustain these jobs on a lower budget.

MessageWe agree with the KRP and add that small reasonable cuts across the board should be enough to protect key ministries such as Defence, important for more reasons than just the jobs it supports.

MessageWe feel that if any cuts are to made then defence is the most obvious place for them to come from. Jobs may indeed be hit but much of the defence budget is simply unnecessary waste in our view and it is much better to cut that than more vital departments such as healthcare, education or social welfare.

MessageRetsforbund believes that the reduction of the science and technology budget would be devastating for Kazulia's economy. We should rather increase it instead of reducing it.

A nation shall strive for being a technologic super power, that is what we would like Kazulia to be and we do therefore vote no to this bill.
