MessageA publicly run health system is far more efficient and and can be run at far less cost to the state than the private healthcare that Logisk Synspunkt would like to introduce.

MessageWe find the current policy acceptable but can easily understand the proposed view. It must be remembered that publicly run health systems may be very efficient in an ideal world, but that realistically, they often become bloated and lumbering giants that act as a black hole for the nation's finances. It is also true that competition between private companies often drives prices down. We would like to hear the opinions of all the other parties before making a decision. Perhaps "There is a public health care system, but private clinics are allowed." could be a compromise?

MessageIn what way does subsidizing something cost more than running it yourself for a loss?

MessageUnder the proposed bill the government will fully subsidise the cost by paying a fee to private companies. Since these private companies need to make a profit, unlike the public healthcare system, it is obvious that the government will ultimately end up paying more with a significant proportion going straight into the pockets of wealthy shareholders.

MessageRetsforbundet does not support this proposal since we believe a public health care system is better for the population and it will ensure everyone an equal treatment. A private-run health care system will commercialize the health care system and this will force some clinics, hospital etc. to close down and will result in bad living/health standards for some regions.

MessageDe venstregonne, I would like to know where you got the word "fully" from. The wording of the legislation says no such thing. Also, the payments would not necessarily have to go to the private companies, the doctor prescribing the medication could file a statement with whatever agency and have a check go to the patient, effectively subsidizing the prescription while not paying any money to wealthy shareholders. I would ask that you stop making assumptions about what other people think, because so far you have been horribly off target.

MessageThe words are "subsidises the cost of it for all citizens" although maybe Logisk Synspunkt can define in more detail what the bill will actually involve. Everyone knows that private companies exist with the aim of providing a profit for their shareholders so it is nonsensical to claim that a private heath system would be able to provide treatment for the same low cost that our current public system does.

MessageIt is actually not nonsensical. Public programs are in general plagued by fraud and misuse of money. Private corporations must run efficiently and effectively, something many public programs lack in general, in order to maximize profit.

MessageHealth is far too important to leave in the hands of corporations. The government can act in the interests of the public, or at least more so than private companies who are interested in making a profit.

MessageCorporations can run more efficiently and effectively than government. Also, doctors know that they're liable for pretty much anything that can go wrong; they are a careful breed.

MessageThis can be the case, but is not always. I still strongly disagree of making health a comodity - even if the cost is met by the government. Inevitably, competing companies will try to cut costs, and the result will be a lower quality service on the cheap...

MessageWe have decided to take the compromise proposed by Indigobla Liga and begin a vote in hopes of increased privatization that the majority of the parties can agree on.
