Bill: Emergency Budget
Details
Submitted by[?]: Gukmindang
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 3453
Description[?]:
Madam Speaker, in view of the current threat to Dranland's national security, it is our patriotic duty to ensure our military and our security forces are equipped to tackle the challenges that lie ahead. This is not the budget I would like to be proposing. I would much rather be proposing large investment increases in health, education and infrastructure. However, this is the budget that Dranland needs and that Dranland deserves in the present circumstances. Haneul Han MP General Secretary of the Gukmindang |

Message | Madam Speaker, we have had enough spending excesses in recent years, and even though we remain in a state of high alert and recognize the need to defend us to the outside, we strictly reject damaging our country from the inside with reckless spending on departments that are already full to bursting. Especially the Infrastructure budget has already reached perverse heights. James Whittaker MP Member for Magadonia Finance Minister |
Date | 23:30:46, March 09, 2013 CET | From | Radical Liberal Party of Dranland | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker Although we oppose this budget, we deny the notion presented by Mr.Whittaker that Infrastructure budget is excessive, our business community supports infrastructure spending, this is pro-business and job-creating spending. Yvette Rochelle MP Leader of GP |
Date | 23:34:31, March 09, 2013 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker, if we want an effective infrastructure network, we must let the mechanisms of the free market allocate funding to building projects, not arbitrary government decisions. The business community supports market-based expansion and enhancement of infrastructure, not public spending excesses. James Whittaker MP Member for Magadonia Finance Minister |
Date | 23:38:10, March 09, 2013 CET | From | Gukmindang | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker, all of the spending increases proposed here are budget for within Dranland's budget surplus. This budget would not threaten Dranland "from the inside". However, refusing to pass this budget would substantially increase the threat posed to us from outside. Is the Honourable Member James Whitaker so absorbed in his neo-liberal economic doctrines that he is unable to grasp the fact that across the ocean, there is a large army threatening to invade us? Haneul Han MP General Secretary of the Gukmindang |
Date | 23:39:31, March 09, 2013 CET | From | Popular Party | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker, How on earth increasing spending on infrastructure and trade an industry is supposed to defend us from attack, I have no idea. Most departments in Dranland already have so much money they don't know what to do with it, this budget would only exacerbate the situation. Melissa Hargreaves MP PP Leader |
Date | 23:40:10, March 09, 2013 CET | From | Radical Liberal Party of Dranland | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker Parliament voted in a tax cut so this spending qualifies for deficit spending. GP Caucus |
Date | 23:46:43, March 09, 2013 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker, instead of hoarding money taken from the masses who suffer under the tax burden, we should give it back to the people and learn to live with less, which would of course require scaling back the size of government altogether - in the meantime, we support the plans of the Greens to relieve our citizens and ease the cost of living for them by reducing their taxes instead of more of the same failed spending rage policy that got us into all economic mess. James Whittaker MP Member for Magadonia Finance Minister |
Date | 00:00:24, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Gukmindang | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker, James Whittaker's tax cut would give the people a little of their own money back, but has he considered that if we are invaded by Egelion, those same people might be left with no money or property of their own at all? If we want to preserve our lives, liberties, fortunes and properties, then we need to do everything we can to strengthen our military. At least in the short-term, that is. If the threat level recedes, we could then look at scaling back the defence budget. Haneul Han MP General Secretary of the Gukmindang |
Date | 00:02:45, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker, in fact our military already HAS all the capabilities to defend our nation effectively. However, what we must do is to allow them to make full use of their impressive arsenal, including nuclear deterrents. More spending is apparently the rallying cry of an otherwise clueless party on military issues. James Whittaker MP Member for Magadonia Minister of Finance |
Date | 00:03:53, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Radical Liberal Party of Dranland | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker The answer is simple, we can nukem and strategically invade them, best defense is offense. Mischa Garnier MPP Member of Radical Miliarist Faction of GP |
Date | 00:12:24, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | OOC: The GP has a radical militarist wing? Haha, the GNP is looking dovish compared to Dranish Greens ;-) |
Date | 00:13:24, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Gukmindang | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker, we in the Gukmindang seek a middle-way between, on the one hand, slashing our defence budget and being invaded, and on the other hand, starting a nuclear war. Is this too much to ask? Haneul Han MP General Secretary of the Gukmindang |
Date | 00:13:58, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Gukmindang | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | OOC: Dranland's Greens are unlike the Greens anywhere else heheh :) |
Date | 00:16:57, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | Madam Speaker, the GMD presents a false dilemma to the assembly and the general public. By no means is there a choice between more spending and mayhem and destruction. The people know that the troops are well-equipped and ready to stand for our sovereignty at all times, without more unneeded money being stuffed down their throat. James Whittaker MP Member for Magadonia Minister of Finance OOC: I doubt you'd find ethnic nationalist, neocon environmentalists somewhere in RL ;-) |
Date | 00:17:51, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Radical Liberal Party of Dranland | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | OOC: I am nothing like that for military issues but I want my party to be a catch all party on several issues. BTW you know that Mexican Greens supports death penalty. Radical Military Wing is a fringe group in my party. Don't you think I am better than the other Greens :) |
Date | 00:20:15, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | OOC: That thing about the Mexican Greens is interesting. On the other hand, libertarian conservative Ron Paul opposes it even though most libertarian thinkers like Rothbard have supported it based on their theory of retribution which is in turn based on their theory of natural property rights and the Non-Aggression Principle. Anyway, I don't want to deliver a lecture on libertarian law enforcement theory here... |

Message | OOC: Help me, I am running out of ideas, to make myself more interesting and weird(According to Green standarts), only thing i have is turn my party into a pro-life, religious environment party that support ls gay marriage because of marriage is the only moral way of being a couple and gay adoption. |
Date | 00:34:54, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Grand National Party | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | OOC: You mean a kind of syndicalist party that believes in marriage as a way of promoting morals among people regardless of their sexual orientation? Maybe it would help to inject Hosianist tendencies in the Green party. |
Date | 00:34:54, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Gukmindang | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | OOC: Perhaps you could adopt some wacky form of Draddwyr paganism? When I was considering roleplaying a Welsh party, I had some thoughts of doing something about a Welsh Messiah or Mad Darogan. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mab_Darogan That might give you inspiration for something crazy. Might be interesting to Werin Da, too. |
Date | 00:38:22, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Radical Liberal Party of Dranland | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | OOC: I could do Hosianist theology in my party but I have no idea about how can I use it or for that matter I am not well informed about Christian theology. To clarify my militarist tendencies : Ulbrach and Loren should make it clear |
Date | 00:40:46, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Gukmindang | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | OOC: I was about to suggest a Muslim [what are Muslims called in Particracy?] fundamentalist Green party, but then remembered there are no Muslims in Dranland :) |
Date | 01:13:47, March 10, 2013 CET | From | Freedom Party | To | Debating the Emergency Budget |
Message | OOC: http://particracy.wikia.com/wiki/Illustrated_Catalogue_of_Religion Islam is called Queranzariah, though there is also a sect called Abadism which much interesting lore. |

Message | OOC: You could turn Greens into a regionalist / federalist party. I don't think we have a party like that here, only the VBSM comes close with Valdor and everything. |

Message | OOC:Once upon a time there is a place named as Elbian, and there a party Greens usually gets about %40 but then that party goes militarist and start to gain votes in other places but not in Elbian. Now that party want to turn back to Elbian but now we have another environmentalist and pacifist it environmentalist and militarist party in Elbian. |
