Bill: Prevention of Pornography Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: De venstregrønne

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 3455

Description[?]:

De venstregrønne's recent party congress approved a motion of our women's organisation to ban pornography in Kazulia and we are therefore submitting this bill to parliament. It is our party's position that commercial pornography is a form of violence against women and is incompatible with a society built on the values of equality and human rights. De venstregrønne consequently sees it as detrimental to the struggle for genuine sexual liberation and believes that only a strong measure like this can break the harmful grip of the porn industry over the developing sexualities of young people in our country.

MessageThe state shall not dictate which jobs are acceptable when they respect all other laws of Kazulia, we do therefore vote no.

MessageIf the abuse of women is permitted under the law then we suggest that the laws need to change.

MessageIt is not abuse, the actors/actresses are in this business voluntarily and accept what their line of business requires from them. The state should not decide wether or not this business is acceptable, it is up to the employees and employers.

MessageThat some women may "consent" to be abused in order to survive financially within the context of an unequal, patriarchal, male-dominant society hardly makes that abuse morally unacceptable in the view of De venstregrønne. It is absolutely the job of the state to decide which industries are and are not compatible with the values of equality, dignity and human rights.

MessageThey do not consent to be abused, why does De venstregrønne think that? - Porn is not a violation of human rights, porn is not a violation of equality and you can definitely not decide wether or not porn is a dignified line of business.

MessageWe find it strange that Logisk Synspunkt opposes this bill while being so strongly against prostitution. Pornography after all is nothing other than filmed prostitution and we are disappointed that Logisk Synspunkt wants to allow it.

MessageThe abuse and objectification present in commercially-produced porn is there for everyone to see and that some women supposedly "consent" to it does not make it acceptable or legitimate. A nation committed to gender equality must do all it can to abolish and eliminate this horrific human rights violation perpetrated against women.

MessageDenying women or men to pursue their goals/desires (when these goals/desires are legal/okay) is an act of inequality and will not tolerated among Retsforbundet's MHMKH's.
Porn is not a violation of human rights and we do therefore not think that, that argument is solid.
And please remember that men also are employed in the porn industry and are exposed to the same things as women in this industry.

Date15:04:56, March 14, 2013 CET
From De venstregrønne
ToDebating the Prevention of Pornography Act
MessageThe only goals and desires that porn represents are those of misogynistic men who want to hurt, abuse and oppress women. Men, with the exception of gay porn, are not subjected to the same things as women, rather they are the ones who are, themselves, subjecting women to violence and exerting their dominance over them. De venstregrønne urges the women of Kazulia to rise up and oppose, through any means necessary, the patriarchal system of male dominance which blights our society and keeps them in a position of weakness and submission.

MessageWhere does De venstregrønne get these facts from? - We have never heard that men watch porn because they would like to see women hurt, abused and oppressed. Men does also watch lesbian porn where there is no man involved, just girls who have sex with each other.
A lot of those things that happen in porn films does also happen in a private bedroom, shall we then forbid sex? - It can after all be the exact same thing.

Date16:43:08, March 14, 2013 CET
From De venstregrønne
ToDebating the Prevention of Pornography Act
MessageOur facts are simply common knowledge for anyone who is not in a state of denial about the reality of men’s sexual terrorism against women. De venstregrønne thinks that what goes on in private bedrooms, when abuse is involved, is also the business of the state and believes that all forms of sexual violence, even when that violence is "consensual", must be punishable under the law. While we certainly don't want to forbid sex per se we will do all we can to break down the patriarchal ideology in our society which turns sex into an act of male dominance over women.

From League of Justice
ToDebating the Prevention of Pornography Act
MessageThat is a ridiculous accusation against men and it is ridiculous to meddle in private things like sex, Retsforbundet does not understand De venstregrønne's point of view in this matter.
