Bill: The Bloc Manifesto, Part One: The Preamble

Details

Submitted by[?]: Bloc Am Chazak, Am Yedui, Am Libre

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 3481

Description[?]:

The Land of Beiteynu was the birthplace of the Yedhui people. Here their spiritual, religious and political identity was shaped. Here they first attained to statehood, created cultural values of national and universal significance and gave to the world the eternal Book of Books. After many wars and exiles from the land, the people kept faith with it throughout their Dispersion and never ceased to pray and hope for their return to it and for the restoration in it of their religion and peoplehood.
Impelled by this historic and traditional attachment, The Bloc strove in every successive generation to re-establish the nation of wealth themselves in our ancient homeland. We have returned.
The Act calls for the renaming of the Republic, to the Jewish Homeland of Beiteynu. This Act also promises that the Homeland will forever be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Beiteynu; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; and it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions. In the very midst of the onslaught launched against it, the Beiteynu extended its hand to those who sought its destruction, in an offer of peace and good neighborliness.

WE call for government spending to help aid the Birist goal of all Yeduis to return to Beiteynu.
WE call for a return to the Monarchy
WE call Yehduism to return as the official religion of the nation
WE call for less government involvment in the market
WE call for our nation to be Free and Jewish
WE call for the return of French as a national language. It was used as our tounge for many decades and is a direct response to the Anti-Yehudi colonialism of Luthori.
WE call for the renewal of Hebrew and Yehudification of all city names

MessageWe are not entirely opposed to your sentiments expressed here. However, we have some significant differences.

Monarchy:
We are a republican party. We oppose reintroducing the monarchy or any kind of nobility. Beitnish citizens can claim noble titles, but they shouldn't receive any special privileges because o them, and they are not officially recognized.

Language:
Yiddish is the principal language and culture we promote; Hebrew is also an official language, for religious rituals and prayers. Majatran is an additional language, spoken mostly by the Christian and Muslim minorities. We are willing to restore French as one of our national languages due to its historical and cultural significance.

Our new city names are in Yiddish, and memorialize Jewish communities lost to pogroms in the past in our days of exile. We think that means more than the names you are putting forward, unless you would care to elaborate on their meaning.

Religion:
We want to maintain our Jewish identity, but we're a secular Jewish state, not a religious one. There is no official religion, and no compulsions for anyone to practice their religion in a certain way. We do have religious schools (including many yeshivas), but our national education system is secular.

We welcome Jewish refugees from throughout Terra, and will give them integration aid should they choose to make aliyah. This is their homeland, where they can be safe and empowered. No argument there.

Economy:
Of course, we can't support you there. We are in favor of public ownership, but also as much local management of the economy as possible. We want to maintain the extensive kibbutz economy and protect it from big corporations.

National Symbols:
First of all, the anthem you've proposed is not a very old one. It contains certain errors, including that our nationality is referred to as Beitnish (Beiteynuese in English). I am not a fan of the religious slant of the anthem either. I also don't think it seems singable.

If you like, we can work on a new, more nationalist anthem together, but I don't like the one you've proposed.

We might be willing to change the name of the legislature to something like National Assembly and the names of the regions as well. However, we don't really want them to be Hebrew, as we have all official titles in Yiddish. The same goes for the national motto. Our motto represents that our people receive all the necessities of life (bread), but also the beautiful things (roses). Importantly, it is in Yiddish and Majatran as well. We could add French if you like.

OOC: I believe "Yeudish" has to be used, not Jewish, correct?

MessageOOC: You are right it is Yeudish is used. Also, the proper way to refer to someone from Beiteynu is Beiteynian. I helped work on our national profile and ect a year ago, so I remember. lol
