Bill: Free the Weed! (For people in pain anyway..)

Details

Submitted by[?]: Aloria Green Socialist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2156

Description[?]:

Leaving this issue up to local governments creates a 'postcode lottery'. We need consistency in legislation. For example, say a man living in Kurmal has chronic MS and would like to ease his pain using medicinal cannabis, however his local government have banned it's use. Say that Ultran is the only region where it is legal in this example. This would mean our poor chap, and thousands of others like him will have to make expensive, time consuming jjourneys across the country in their unwell state. Let's be fair. Let's be consistant.

MessageAgainst. Local rights and be legally consistant. If ciggarettes are up to local governments, so should cannabis. Cannabis actually contains *more* harmful chemicals than ciggarettes.

MessageThe fallacy that I have described also applies to cigarettes. People will just drive to the next region to get them, thus negating the local law and making it pointless.

Random fact: Once approved, players should copy Cultural Protocols into a bill in the debate section of their nation page, under the title of "OOC: Cultural Protocols". This bill should include links to the passed Cultural Protocol bill and the Moderation approval.
